The United States is a broken hulk. It's time to junk it, separate the worthwhile parts from the trash.
And declare each one free of its state
And the nation. No longer should peasants
Lord over their betters, the educated,
The cosmopolitan. Tell the poor creatures
That they're on their own in their mires
Of bigotry and superstition. Let them
Keep the Congress and state legislatures,
The Constitution, that pernicious document.
We will go forward without them to see
That the poor are fed, the ill receive treatment,
The unorthodox get their shares of respect.
Behind walls, we will thrive. They'll more
Quickly decay, as the few who have promise
Beg us to receive them (most of them
Already do).

As of Old
Let us wall off our cities, as was done of old,And declare each one free of its state
And the nation. No longer should peasants
Lord over their betters, the educated,
The cosmopolitan. Tell the poor creatures
That they're on their own in their mires
Of bigotry and superstition. Let them
Keep the Congress and state legislatures,
The Constitution, that pernicious document.
We will go forward without them to see
That the poor are fed, the ill receive treatment,
The unorthodox get their shares of respect.
Behind walls, we will thrive. They'll more
Quickly decay, as the few who have promise
Beg us to receive them (most of them
Already do).
