The Stark Savagery of All Living Things
Dreadful little beasts, they are, theseHummingbirds. They fight like humans,
Using all their energy to chase each other
From our feeders. None can eat. Each has
To fight to make sure no one else is eating.
I can't understand why they don't part
To forage on their own, or share. Both
Feeders can feed four. There is enough.
They all could thrive together, but that's
Not their way. Like humans, each one
Battles fiercely to obtain dominion over
What the others need.
