To a Nebraska Revenue Department Bureaucrat
You've screwed up so badly already,I haven't much faith in whatever else
You have to say. You sent me a bill.
I dutifully paid it. Then, just two weeks
Later, you mailed me a check for what I
Had paid. Fair enough; you'd been
Wrong. We were finished, I thought,
But you've sent a new letter, and it says
I owe what I already paid (plus a little bit
Extra, a late fee, you say), after already
Saying you'd made a mistake. It's begun
To seem as if you're not very competent.
I'll keep my money, at least what I can,
Though I'm still on the hook for
Your wage.
