My father

I owe it all to you,
the primary example of my life,
a paragon of stoicism and equilibrium,
a perfect diplomat and honourable businessman,
who knew when to keep quiet and to bury secrets
in consummate self-control,
well spiced with a developed sense of humour,
as he always had great fun
and made his life enjoyable from the beginning to the end.
His greatest secret he kept up throughout his life
no one suspecting anything
of what that poker face kept hiding
under an impenetrable surface
of the perfect gentleman’s appearance,
made impeccably of only solid gold.

it's good to pay tribute to his father
it's a curse to judge his parents

A fine meditative poem, my friend. I hope I am not being presumptuous is saying I am sorry for your loss - because it sounds like the sort of poem I might write for my father... gone now for forty-seven years.
Blessings and brotherly love, Allen
