The dire necessity of idealism
You’ve got to have something to believe in.
Humdrum bleak reality is not enough,
dry absolute materialistic realism is dead,
and life cannot exist and prosper in a vacuum.
You need air to breathe and visions to enlarge your outlook,
you need dreams to urge you on with inspiration,
you need an example to look up to and to follow,
you can not just count your money and live on that futility,
you must have something extra and continuously;
for if you just reckon with cold facts and figures
there is nothing for you but stagnation,
while initiative is what will make life move forward,
and you need idealism for that initiative
to never keep you back and hold you down;
and you will find that stuff and energy to push you forward
in your dreams, those vague elusive spiritual mirages
that actually reflect your soul, which is the very secret of your life,
an endless inexhaustible resource and fountain
for your endless progress and expansion,
if you just will take it by the hand and let it lead you on.
