The Fate of the Romanovs

I could man the barricades, I guess. I'm not sure
Which I'd man, the ones protesting violent cops,
Or government by oligarchs, or patriarchy,
Genocides pursued by Jews or Turks or Hans.
The world's pimpled by outrages. Anywhere I
Lent my shoulder wouldn't hold. The cause
I meant to reinforce still would be lost. There
Simply aren't sufficient shoulders, aren't sufficient
Resources, to dislodge those who rule now,
And always will, unless we duck behind
The barricades we've built, and, bearing arms,
Take careful aim to rid ourselves of those who've
Gained at our expense and fail to realize that
They must give back what they've seized if they'd
Prefer to live. Of course, our lifelong bitterness
Might overwhelm our mercy, and we'd kill
Them anyway.
