On the likely hood that I may forget
I decided to write this to look ahead
As I hope I have many years before me
For the girl I may leave behind

If I should forget you
When to heaven I'm on my way
By the time that I get there
I'm sure to remember I loved you
Each and every day

So don't be sad for me my darling
For without you I'll sit and wait
For when it's comes to your time
You'll find me waiting outside the gates

So we can enter heaven together
As it was always meant to be
You and me together for all eternity
Live a long life my sweetheart

I saw you when you cried
I felt the tears you wept
I'll wait for you forever
On heavens golden steps

I wrote this for you my love
My love for you will never wain
Yes I'll wait for you forever
Until we meet again
