Memento

Jill's empty wineglass still sits on the coffee table, symbolizing
Several things. First, I don't keep house too well. Second, I rose
Early, and I quickly had to get away, and, third, I'm sorry she has
Gone. I begged her not to go. She did, so, in her place, I've left,
At least, an imprint of her lips.

Such a brief and emotive poem. "She did, so, in her place, I've left,
At least, an imprint of her lips."
to my mind is extraordinarily powerful and cements the 'feel' of this piece. Although sad, this poem deserves accolade in my opinion. Blessings, Allen
