About Time
There was a timeWhen risk and fear of failure
Limited attempts at happiness
While anxiety careened
Like a pinball on bumpers
Until apathy said enough
And the ball drops out of sight
When time left in a rapidly
Declining margin of opportunity
Gives a message of release
Of anxiety, fear and wasted time
There is nothing left to placate
A lack of desire to act
A chance at hope and love
Happened with modest beginnings
Where a simple conversation
Between two lonely warriors at life
Became the usual questions
Where what is left is why not?
A request for a meal the day following
Became easy letting guilt and fear
Pass by in the twilight of life
Where conversation picked up
Easily where it left off
Hesitation from there ceased to exist
So the story began of two lovers
Where peace and harmony
Ignited slowly rising passion
That fuels comfort and intimacy
As days pass being apart
Is not possible, drawn together
By time left to give each other
Expectations of life from here
Has a sense of urgency
To discover what is next
While disappointment
Angst at rejection ceases
With self empathy to enjoy
All that is left to attain
