Dentist visit

The Appointment

10 am cometh
I munch the last piece of bread
The bathroom urge calleth me
To perform the morning brush task
As image in the mirror tremors
In anticipation of that crocodile smile

The date and time approacheth
For me to appear before the dentist
The office looms large as I approach
Illegibly I print my name at receptionist’s desk
As if to negate the inevitable

My word the time has come
Eyelashes flutter nervously
I saunter down the office aisle
To the chair I dread
Awaiting the nitrous oxide drugged catnap
Fear and conciousness fade

Aroused from the stupor
It seems the visit was as planned
Wobbling gladly to the door
Until the 6 months comes again

Brought a smile to me this afternoon. Thank you. The use of oldie English enhanced the interest in reading, and kind of added charm to an otherwise tale of sometimes irrational fear of dentists. In that respect I guess it depends on the dentist. It is about seventy years since I had Nitrous Oxide... and when I had it I could hear everything that was being said and done whilst 'asleep'! Blessings, Allen
