Words
If I have to ask you what you meant, you've failed, and you
Should try again. The point of language, after all, is passing
Meaning, understanding, from a mind to other minds, and though
The process cannot work completely because no two minds
Can occupy a single space at once, and, thereby, see exactly,
Hear exactly, feel exactly in one way, their backgrounds can
Be close enough for words to conjure kindred thoughts...
Unless the one who speaks wants nothing more than to
Amuse himself, in which case, though he may succeed at
That, he will, as someone who takes up a shovel as a crutch,
Have failed to employ words as they're intended to be used.
