This is for Thomas Perdue, I hope you get your wish.

Drifting Away

Did it really matter?
How much love you had for me
As I heard your heartfelt cries
As I floated out to sea

As the waves slowly touched my skin
I thought one thing "Would I give in?"
I told myself that I loved you
Yet just the same you faded from view

For three whole nights and three whole days
My doubtful heart was caught in a maze
Each dead end an obstacle, each corner a chance
To find an exit and indulge in romance

Even though you were away from me
You spirit followed me out to sea
In that moment the world wasn't there
Only you and me and the love we would share

Did it really matter?
How much love you had for me
As I heard your heartfelt cries
As I floated out to sea
