I composed this poem, when there was halt in Kathmandu valley because a child was abducted. This poetry reveals, how halt affects the normal life and common people.

Again

Again there was halt,
halt on the roads
of land of temples.
Every where people
shouting and screaming
slogans, which I
couldn't decipher.
I asked someone
on the road
what has happened?
He said,
a child was kidnapped
and so there is halt.
He further exclaimed...
Sir, the day will come
very soon,
when there will be halt
when a lapdog of
some rich belly will die.
Hell with this city,
doomed city.
After he left
I started meditating...
on his words
and I really found
it rings true.
I looked around
and saw
crowd of commuters,
office goers,
students,
parents...
some groaning...
some mourning...
some cursing...
Just then a man
cursed...
may his parents
also get abducted.
I too cursed them
but don't know whom
for I had to walk
ten kilometres
in that scorching heat
for no fault of mine.

Later at night
The news reader
read...
a newly born child
and mother died
on the road
for not getting
medical attention.
At that time,
I cursed them
who were responsible.
But I still wonder
Who was responsible?
Was that boy who was abducted?
Were those people who abducted?
Were those people who called halt?
Were police officers who couldn't solve?
Were we?
Was government?
Who?

kath
Yes who is guilty... your write tells me of the sense of helplesness one feels as tradgedy occurs before ones eyes and you can't do anything to stop it from happening....

well I guess the people who abducted the child will rightfully be blamed for the kidnapping... but the blame for the mother and the child dying is a whole different matter...

your words made me think and feel the pain and anger that they spoke to me

a read that provokes thinking... thank you
