a heart beat from ...........

as the books on his shelf
pile and come undone
panic rules all around

love is a word seldom heard
and lips are sealed
no maps tell the way

tears drop and lose their direction
closed doors behind their minds

a stairway without steps
taken or forsaken
hearts a cry from pain

the genltler touch
once a hope
in mornings unknown to sorrow

and through the looking glass
she seeks the queen
as croquet is played in afternoons

her dress of silk and lace
dancing in nights of lilacs
as time pulls its cord

him letting velvet skies
surround her skin
alone in a moon room

lost among highway signs
a heart beat from days gone by
