This is true...I'm wondering if the same thing will happen this Summer.
on Mid-Summer Night hold a magical ball.
I'm very lucky to get an invite,
for as you know, I'm not a sprite.
Not brownie nor goblin, not fairy nor fay,
but I always enjoy my Mid-Summer day.
By night-fall the fairies all gather around,
(it's strange, but no-body else hears a sound!)
There's a magical band of wee fairy folk,
all playing in tune, elfin music bespoke.
I've never heard pan-pipes played so before,
this mystical music the fairies adore.
There's dew-wine all served in cute acorn cups,
and honey-dew cakes, no-one interrupts,
the party of fairies and dancing wee elves,
and everyone really enjoys themselves.
My cute little friends, they all dance and sing,
inside an enchanted toadstool ring.
Glow-worms in bushes provide magic light,
it really is an incredible sight.
When fairy folks' feet become tired and sore,
into the air one by one they all soar.
They dance up there with flittering wings,
and as I watch them, my happy heart sings.
Back down to earth they return one by one,
telling each other they're having such fun.
But time to prepare for their special guest,
Queen Mab is arriving, all dressed in her best!
From her golden coach she alights with a smile,
and says she will stay with us all for a while.
She sips so daintily, her Cowslip wine,
her dress is a wonder of stardust sublime.
Around her a sparkling aura is cast,
I treasure the moment, but know it can't last.
For she must depart when the sun's in the East,
and thanks us all for the magical feast.
And so she departs with a pixie retinue,
leaving us wishing another visit were due!
We clear up the feast and put things away,
and wait for next year, and Mid-Summer day!!

The Fairies Ball.
The fairies in my garden allon Mid-Summer Night hold a magical ball.
