we've all been warned: don't lick a lamp-post in the cold of winter...

Passion tongue

My tongue
has tasted much
and curled away
from little

but also
from time to time
been flayed
on the icy lamp-posts

or scorched
by the flaming desire
cooled by the
odd purling stream

then I had
to lick you
and now it has been torn
out from the root

It's what they call
dumb passion
