A poem about writing.

For a good time call....

Just to feel the pen
move across the page
is a joy to me.
It doesn't matter what I write
Or if it means anything
If it's full of clichés
Or if the plot is exciting
Sometimes I just need
to hear myself think
on paper
I'm getting used to the keyboard
too
As if pounding out letters
Were the same as longhand
Well it looks better
Isn't that always the point?
How it looks.
How many can read my handwriting
on the wall?

I really enjoy this. The chutzpah of the final line is unexpected & totally cool

To hear yourself think on paper - yes that can be such a wonderful way of just seeing your thoughts displayed before you. I think you capture a lot of what writing is about - sure we all want to write the best poem - but its about seeing as well - I used to write just in notebooks for years, then a while ago started just using the keyboard, which seems to have become my fingers and thoughts now. Excellently expressed
