Almost romance

This is cruel and insane!
Im being taunted!
Like part of a game,
Im being haunted.

Visions and mem'rys
Devouring my mind!
Just like a story,
Misread in time.

Why does it read so?
What's the meaning?
Loves fires burn low,
Then are given more feeding!

Maybe not meant to be
(as are most)
Then tell me why, why me?
It's too damn close!
