Life hits us with frosty moments

Ice

Ice
harbours
resounding cracks
the winter night
holds stillness to ransom
over crackling log fires

Winter
recklessly arriving
in a flurry of whiteouts
prompted me to buy
longdistance skates

hoping for silent cuts across
pristine ice
with you
I warmed to the thought
of things seen together

but while waiting for winter
your pentup heat
melted the brittle ice under us

I am afloat in this wake
the ice-spikes floating
near my halfdrowned mouth

bare hands
are no match
for ice

Ah, such excellent atmosphere in this poem!
I love winter imagery such as this, especially with room for interpretation as in this case. Masterfully done, good sir. My admiration.

Well said, good Poet Sir. I think you are a passionate poet with much to share and I thank you for making me smile and sigh.
