The Return

"Come again soon", I heard her whisper as she closed the door..
Lookin' behind I glanced and saw things left which I once did adore
I set out that dark night ridin' a horse whilst the wind blew through..
"Cry on me oh sky", I prayed aloud in an attempt to start anew

"Throw away your masks", her words echoed through my mind..
Holdin' a mask in my hand, the past began to unwind
The smell of the lake made me stop for awhile..
"I hope to sink away the dark", I thought as I washed my laundry with a smile

I then sat by the rocks with a pen in my hand..
Words so many but sentences so few as the rocks turned into sand
The sight of waves rollin' into themselves reminded me of her hair..
People prophesize love without knowin' the evil it attempts to swear

Tearin' my thoughts I climb up my ride and proceed to the far west..
On the road I see people with their souls at unrest
"I must return and forget the casket of jewels", I think for awhile
Things intangible are worth the most, I realize as I sink my eyes in her welcome smile
