Street Child
A street childwith diamonds in her eyes,
a smile that flashes brilliance,
the resolute challenge
of a life too harsh.
Agility is paramount to survival,
swift, sleight of hand
like a three card trick
she works her magic on the streets.
Sleeping like a feline,
sprawled, but ready to spring
forth into the unknown
underworld to defend herself.
Does she realise she's been robbed?
stealing without conscience,
no boundaries hold her back
as she watches her own.
Who stole a childhood?
