in the aftermath of another sordid male demonstration of power and total lack of brain mind and heart

I have seen the rapists face

I collected her at dawn

could not reassemble

the remains

only transport them

just  a late night party

in the house of trusted friends

all rather high on drink, companionship, and bonhomie

although not all men are bon hommes

Towards dawn
some suggest
a trip around

the mansion

In misplaced faith
she went along
while waiting
for her cellphone
to be charged

into a room
with a judasmind behind

a penguin front

and a handy hencher
keeping her from getting out

assaulted
humiliated

spermflecked
bruised, bitten
coerced to acts
of delirium
and violence

and impotence
but all the same
dominance

I had left her

in a lovely party mood
with shining eyes and blushing lips
8 hours earlier
'I'll call' when I want to go home'

The call didn't come

until it was too late

I collected the remains
of a beloved woman at dawn

I have seen the face of  rape

heard the incoherent sobs
watched in helpless anger
the frightning cramps
in a ravaged body
and tormented soul

I have watched
the rapists triumf
in my woman's face

I have
indelible memories

of frustrated anger,
her despair is unforgettable

his crime is irremediable
and his reward will be inescapable

Innocents die without and within
criminals get therapy

and cost the ravaged tax payer
more than sleepless nights

and constant vigil

over the victims
as they try to sleep against
their nightmares

If hell does not exist
it needs to be invented
for those who act
like that
they create hell for women
and children

and should reap  what they sow

By the time I reached the end, I had my hand over my mouth. The stark reality of your words hit hard, very hard. Your opening stanza with "I could not reassemble the remains..." still didn't prepare me for the rest. Hats off to you for this and I echo your final line.

Sexual deviates are the bane of civilization. Hospitals are full of those who are stricken with the myriad of diseases inflicted by heartless, conscienceless rogues. I am sure that many of these predators are themselves products of such acts. I wonder why, as a so called civilization, we don't spend more time and money to find a solution to this horrific behaviour.
A timely and jarring piece that must touch close to home to the majority Teddy.

Horrible, harrowing, heinous . . . even my small town newspaper has such stories almost every day and I still don't begin to understand how any man is capable of such atrocity. There is no punishment sufficient, though castration would be a good start.
