The Difference Between Then and Now
Beyond some point, the anecdotes are numbing. We know what's been done. We've seen the
Chains across the gates. We've seen embarrassed
Women come to churches for some cans of
Food. We've seen the darkened limousines.
We know the ways we cannot speak, and all
The things we aren't to do, and, numbed,
And beaten down so far, we see no point
In protesting. We haven't any hope.
