Circa 1985

A Cockney should be born within the sound of Bow Bells.

I knew a few true Cockneys, diamond geezers.

Jar - a pint of beer (used by many different people)

Willy Wonka - plonker

&nbs

Cockney

I was in  a London pub,

standing by the bar,

just having a jar.

I started talking to  a man,

as you do.

"I'm a Cockney" he said

I replied "Nah, go on,  knock it on the head"

"I knew the Kray brothers,

Loved their Mum, they did"

"Who  are you trying to kid ?"

"You were dead safe then,

in those days

you could leave the front door open,

mind you there was nothing to steal

austerity,see"

"Do you want another jar"

"Yeh, alright"

"I was wrong, I didn't know the Krays"

I thought you Willy Wonka

I knew you didn't

but

I did

A citizen of London, being in the country, and hearing a horse neigh, exclaimed, Lord! how that horse laughs! A by-stander telling him that noise was called Neighing, the next morning, when the cock crowed, the citizen to shew he had not forgot what was told him, cried out, Do you hear how the Cock Neighs?
