Ambition

In the dark the tears fled down.
She held hands with her mother
As the baby elephant waved away his.

Then lights came up pausing grief and
There came upon her another ambition.
The tears left with the frown
As she examined her heroine.

How she wanted that uniform!
What a frilly hat!
The torch looked much better than hers
But she was sure she could wave it better
And she could probably walk backwards selling
Ice-cream. She was sure she could shush
Noises to silence.

She had to be an usherette!

Her mother thought this was her best yet-
Much better than being a boy.

Like Rob, I wanted to be a cowboy. Be careful what you wish for.

My niece wanted to be a chocolate cake.

I wanted to be cowboy, but I pronounced it "KOBY"; my mother said I must be Canadian. This is a fun write!

I wanted to be the projectionist . . . like the Wizard behind the curtain. I had a distant relative who was . . . what could be better than seeing every movie for free and staying up late and all the popcorn you could eat.
