Greetings from Wellington, New Zealand
I'd have stood up, I'm certain, and she would
Have noticed. A sky so dramatically sunny
And clouded would not have passed uselessly
Into the night, and the darkness which
Followed, the street's lights and traffic,
The cries of the revelers, would have
Been so much appropriate background
To her fascination with what she had coaxed
Out of me.

From a Bench on the Waterfront
I'd have been implacable, if she'd intervened.I'd have stood up, I'm certain, and she would
Have noticed. A sky so dramatically sunny
And clouded would not have passed uselessly
Into the night, and the darkness which
Followed, the street's lights and traffic,
The cries of the revelers, would have
Been so much appropriate background
To her fascination with what she had coaxed
Out of me.
