With thanks to Commentally Ill poem Party Animals. Got me to thinking and typing this.

I USDE TO DANCE THE TWIST

I used ter dance The Twist

Bend over backwards

Hair brushing the dance floor

Twisting back up to me dancing feet

Stood proudly up right , still twisting

Won prizes dancing The Twist

Now me back no longer rubber like

Hair , well , now of sweet memory

Yes I was a party animal once upon a life time ago

*laughs at C.I.'s knocking some poor fellow out while doing the hokey-pokey*

I loved this write of yours, Ken. Did you actually win any prizes doing the twist? :) Oh, and I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your hair... ;)

ps. I also was a party animal once upon a lifetime ago.

Commentally Ill
it seems a few of us party animals have lived to tell about it. the black ties shall be disappointed, but those are the breaks.

i never could do the twist, but i did a stunning hokey pokey.

stunning as in good? nope, as in, when i put my left arm out, i bumped the guy to my left in the head hard enough to knock him out cold.

funny, they wouldn't let me try the limbo after that.

it is nice to inspire poetry as opposed to cursing and name calling (which is what i usually get ;). thanks for that.

This brings back memories - Chubby Checker, Joey Dee and the Starliters, Sam Cooke . . . fifty years ago for me. I was never a "party animal" but I could do the Twist.
