Light's Looking Glass

Saw a picture in the mirrorĀ
A see so blue and light as glass
Passing fair as was Persephone
When Spring had lent her Light's harmony
Played perfect counterpoint to heavens high climbing skies
Bordering backgrounds of breathless visions sang
Rich, deep Iris temples in the altars of her eyes
Prayers to weep for words were wrought and sent
Into the World's lost dark malevolent schemesĀ
Yet never saw a footstep falter from the path which sacrifice set
Only Alice with a childlike ancient faith keeping fast her lone secret,
Beauty walking with the wearer
Cathedrals growing through the grass
Saw your picture in the mirror
A see so blue and light as glass
