Victory
The horror stories horrify, but lessFor what they say once was than
What they demonstrate remains:
The narrowness of proper thought,
Its endless repetition and acceptance
(More or less, enough) by those
It serves and those it slaughters,
Stasis, theft, and slow decay, and
Knowing one must mind one's
Tongue. Repeat, “We're glad
The commies lost, and we have
Won because we're free.” We're
Free. That's what they're telling
Us, and what we must believe.
