But He Chooses to Continue On
The tangible world recedes. He shaves. The boy who he'd been, who had lived
In that world, is bound in a corner.
Someone on TV says that stocks appear
Poised to move higher today, and
That leaders are meeting to talk about
Trade. He rereads his notes for the
Conference this morning, enters his
Car and leaves his garage. The boy,
Who is now in his back seat, is
Shouting, “Lower your window!
Look at the trees! Spring has arrived,
And they're flowered and fragrant.
Why won't you stop? We could play.”
