Uh-oh

The little woman's sullen visage looms,
In mind, if not in sight, as he considers
What he's done: the car's gone off
The road again. She always says he
Drives too fast. She'll bark, “You
Knew the street was wet,” and he,
Defenseless, will not speak. He'll
Drift away to somewhere else,
Perhaps the place from which he's
Come, where thrills and fun are
Worth the risks, and she's not
Seen or heard.
