Worth More Parted Out

That's my reflection, shattered into pieces by
The leaded glass, and that is how I seem to be
To those who see me every day: a piece, no
Match for others' views; a man who mimics
Mindless cheer; to some, a joker, some a fool;
To others, sour solipsist; another coddled radical;
A man who fell short of what would have seemed
His fate; a malcontent. I see myself as whole,
Of course, but wholly useless, dead and dull,
And flattered by the many things I seem in
Leaded glass.
