Dawn Ditty
I don't blow smoke rings solelyTo signal the space ships orbiting
Overhead. I blow them in hopes
That they'll lasso you, and I don't
Make drawings for cash or museums.
I make them to draw you. They
Probably won't, and I don't write
Such poems at midday on Mondays
When I have been working. I write
Them on mornings when you are
Not near me, when logic has
Failed, and nonsense best
Tells what is true.
