Blindsided

Silence pushed hard
against my mouth.
Invading my body,
devouring my soul.

I could not help it,
I was caught off guard.
Blindsided,
spinning out of control.

I think the short length of the poem makes it that much more effective; in one fell swoop it tells all, just like being blindsided.
