I visited the University of Nebraska Lincoln today.

A True Story

“What wretchedness is this?,” I wailed.
What dims my senses so that I now
Cannot love these things I see, and
Do not, as I always did, erupt with
Lust in such a place? A college
Campus, Jesus Christ, and all around,
In skinny jeans and shorts, such
Young and fetching women. Promise!
False, of course, but fun before this
One had hobbled me. Now, none
Here is the greater beauty, no
Head has her flaming hair, and
Each face lacks something hers
Has: the brains, compassion.
I don't know. I watch them pass,
And am not stirred. What
Wretchedness is this?
