For Ariel
Which isn't apt to be? Should I say
I will have you, dear, and we will
Walk a shaded path, our hands
Together, talking, and agreeing
Not to try to give a name to what
We have to do? We simply must
Be with each other. Wrongly? Maybe.
Briefly? Yes. And only in our minds,
Perhaps, but, after weeks of darkness,
I envision us in paradise. I have
Some hope. I hope that you do, too.

A Rash Act
Shall I be rash and write a paradiseWhich isn't apt to be? Should I say
I will have you, dear, and we will
Walk a shaded path, our hands
Together, talking, and agreeing
Not to try to give a name to what
We have to do? We simply must
Be with each other. Wrongly? Maybe.
Briefly? Yes. And only in our minds,
Perhaps, but, after weeks of darkness,
I envision us in paradise. I have
Some hope. I hope that you do, too.
