Codependence

We are cripples, leaning on each other.
We both are aware of that. I'd saved
My love to give to one who desperately
Needed it, and her sole need was love
So strong and constant as is gravity,
A force which disregards itself. I
Give her that. I've asked for nothing.
She, in turn, gives me her need, and, thus,
We're perfect for each other, though she's
Young and I am old, and both of us
Expect we will be separated anytime,
Two cripples seized and set apart
To live with those who fathom neither
Love nor need, and will be forced
To grieve in silence for the loss of one
Who knew exactly how to lean.
