End it

You said we must be circumspect.
We have been. We're so god-damned
Sly that no one knows about our
Love. I often question it myself.
I see you once or twice a week.
We cannot talk if someone's
Near. We dare not try to slip
Away to somewhere to embrace
And kiss. We make each other
Happy when we manage to be
By ourselves, but such times
Almost never come. It's been
A year. I love you still. It
Seems as if you still love me,
And I intend to keep my promise.
I won't turn away from you
Until you wish it so, but
Darling our love's pinched
And pained. I must admit,
I've started hoping you'll
Tell me to go.
