It might be helpful to look at Botticelli's Birth of Venus
There's one woman's face which shows
Up every time you paint. She's gorgeous.
Was she good to you? One woman,
Likewise, is portrayed in every poem
That I write, red haired and gorgeous
As is yours. She's good to me as she
Can be, a Venus, floating out of
Reach, and blown yet farther from
My grasp by Fortune, who must
Be displeased. In time, I know
She'll drift away, and she and I
Will be forgotten. Maybe, after
Centuries, someone will read
These poems and say she has
Seen through me.
