A free verse poem of possibilities.

Moving Bridges

They say it's a hopeless task,
Lifting a bridge with your bare hands.

We said a man can't walk on the moon,
Now dreams thrive about traveling in space.

The unthinkable is meant to be considered,
As opportunities evolve on new ideas.

Turning the impossible into solutions,
Letting abilities shine to its full potential.

When people claim it's a pointless mission,
Remember that all possibilities are endless.

Kennedy said "we choose to go to the moon and do other things not because they are easy but because they are hard." Superficially this sounds like nonsense, but I think he was talking about challenging ourselves and our knowledge. How else do we really know what is possible. This is a wonderful piece and something we should remember.

I hope someone can fix global warming and the destruction of our planet. I know I am a pessimist about this, but I am a scientist and I work with what is happening every day. I see some very good improvements, but the biggest problems I don't see them fixed at all. People are wonderful at solving problems and obstacles, but this one includes the money of the billionaires, and I don't see them giving in. Possibilities exist, but greed won't let them happen. I enjoyed your first stanza in particular because my husband was in the Corps of Engineers in the Army and they placed and moved bridges all the time. It made me think of him. You wrote a very uplifting poem. I hope I wasn't too pessimistic. :(
