Bang! Bang! My baby shot me down!
I heard a song
as I stood before a window
In a non chalant mood
in my newly moved home
and it brought a storm.
a story formed shape
of discovery and gain.
of loss and pain.
It started on the day,
I saw her walking across a corridor
Many years back and moons ago
On that mundane day at college
Saw her again the same day
From the back of a bus window
standing there looking so grand
Knew in that moment
no escape now
Things are cemented
and set in stone.
Forgot about this though
as days went pass one by one
Till a friend got us talking again
through a pure act of chance
At the beginning we were shy
Or showed our best side
Slowly and gradually things eased
We felt we were cool
So spending nights talking
became the rule
Before we knew it
We had grown together
with roots that intermingled and intertwined
Our existence now indistinguishable
Our fates seemed very much joined
Or maybe this was what I thought
The good days however
did stretch Into a few years
So in a way,
cannot much complain today
Till of course things went South
Never really understood the genesis
of the disaster nor
why did every thing got so foul
She probably left long ago
I probably never got to know
and I was left mending like the soldier
the last outpost on the border
Years after the war was over.
One day however I did realise
she had left for a while
The scene was painful
and I wasn't strong.
I lashed, I fought and I felt so wronged
Bang! Bang!
My baby had shot me down.
Bang! Bang!
That awful sound!
Bang Bang!
My baby had shot me down!
