Murder in the Mountains
More To The Story
To those who have judged me. You don't know me or what I've been through. You made up your mind who you think I am but I am not that person. Perhaps some detailing of my life might help some of those to understand that which has heavily shaped me into who I have become today. AND
Why I left Mars Hill and transferred to East Carolina University to finish my degree program of choice, which I did successfully complete:
Most of the students were actually from out of state. They were from Delaware, New York and New Jersey and Massachusetts. There were many other things, too and spooky stuff- and it just didn't feel right up there. I felt the presence of shear evil and I no longer wanted to go there. I DID NOT FEEL SAFE UP THERE. Plus, I was traumatized when my roommate and I wandered, lost, in the mountains all night long because some guys at our school had tricked us into a cook out with them where they got drunk and wouldn't take us back down the trail of Mary's Gap parking lot, telling us we "had to spend the night". It is also strange because Michael and Steve were just friends but seemed like they were hitting on us that night, and years later, they ended up joining the gay life. We would have never guessed that they would stray that way.....love or lust-- what were they looking for? They became mean and unreasonable and so we left when it was still light. Unfortunately, no flashlights and not enough time to get down that trail....
REALITY'S ROT:
murder at mars hill college in 1972 & 1973
THEY WERE THE FIRST PEOPLE I MET UP THERE WHEN I FIRST STARTED IN SUMMER SCHOOL. I KNEW THEM BOTH. WAYNE PUSHED SALLY OUT OF HIS SPEEDING CAR-- SHE WENT OVER A CLIFF. IT WAS HORRIFIC. WHY. FRIENDS HAD SAID SHE WANTED TO BREAK UP BECAUSE HE WAS EXCESSIVELY PRESSURING HER FOR SEX. THAT'S RIGHT.
AND SALLY LIVED ON MY HALL JUST A FEW DORM ROOMS DOWN. IT WAS DEVASTATING. IT WAS MY FIRST TASTE OF THE EFFECTS OF A SICK SOCIETY and being on my own away from home....AT 17.
Wayne Schilling, a 21-year-old student, was arrested in May 1974 and charged with the murder of Mars Hill College coed Sally Bell Moffitt.
