Compliment
She’s sitting at a table
at Starbucks
having coffee with her sister
when a perfect stranger
comes up to her
and says "you look just like Diana Rigg."
"Really?"
"Yes, just like her.
Of course she’s quite old now,
but just like her when she was your age.
She was quite beautiful."
"Well . . . thank you."
~
"Who the fuck is Diana Rigg?"
"Dunno," says her sister.

Crossing Lines
She's been good for so long,
now she's being bad—a bad girl.
Now she has to say goodbye to her friends,
they're not going to want to see her anymore,
not after this.
She is going to be anonymous,
at least for a while.
And when she is known
it will be by people yet to be known.
There are two kinds of people,
she is about to become the other.
The paradigm has shifted,
old notions won't do. They failed.
~
Cupid Deconstructed
Your beauty
strikes me though my heart,
dear one.
I fall before you,
prostrate.
I am yours.
As I lie,
my head a little sore
from the fall,
I reflect upon my state
and conclude
it is my mind, not my heart
that is pierced.
My head is addled, my heart is full.
