July Fourth
When fireworks displayI remember a gentle woman
Who leads battles
Against injustice
Who spent an evening
In a place I hold dear
Curled next to me sleeping
Peacefully connected
Discussions defined
Mutual family love
That Is always awake
Waiting for each alert
Eliminating peaceful slumber
Your dream race to a door
That was just out of reach
Is touched waiting to open
And close with a soul free
I awaken from isolation
Inspired by a woman
Whose gentle hand
Floated to my heart
That evening
I fixed your favorite
That Appeared ordinary
While feeling memories pleasure
Of the child’s hojo story
Of grilled onion
On a hamburger with fries
The next morning
I fixed breakfast
Care in every step
Flavored by your smile
I touched your hand
Kissed and hugged you
As you departed
Awaiting our next memory
