No Recompence (Off Challenge)

The meeting was cruel
All hopes dashed
As she sat along the pool
With roses and a sash
He strolled along with confidence
Until he saw her face
Then he knew no recompence
Would fully erase
The times that he was unfaithful
The times he forgot
That she was truly beautiful
And his apology was for not
For she grew to love another
One who adored her with his life
He was the younger brother
Who asked her to be his wife
So he turned away in sorrow
He turned away in pain
She only wept for the tomorrows
Lonely in her thoughts again.

It is an amazing and wonderful thing, to be able to write such a story in so few lines. I am as satisfied as if I had read a long tragic novel. Only the best can do that!

His younger brother--talk about adding insult to injury! Guess he had it coming though... Interesting interpretation!
