one of my few happier poems involving life stages

Life

When life starts, you never think about it.
Beginning as the seed of love,
Imbedded in a warm, fertile space.
An opening appears, your roots pushed out,
An eager light shines in your eyes.

Your seed has sprouted yearly leaves.
Rich in detail with fragile veins,
Mapping destiny within your palm.
Your tiny hands overwhelmed by mine,
Encased in aging youth.

As bark sheds and falls, you mature,
Dancing through light and evergreen,
Swaying in rage every day.
Your dyed hair a sunset of red and orange,
Leaking out by heavy depression.

Roots deepen and body broadens,
Understanding blooms,
And knowledge grows fruitful.
Love dawns and softens your bark,
Passion and rebirth twinned and united.

Slow, stifling cold creeps up inside,
Strangling your limbs and pushing your back,
Frosty wind creaking immovable joints.
Leaves wrinkle and die, leaving a bare structure,
Your last moments a ride through memories.
