We met as teenagers - we are still married 40 years later.
thin, needy, love-hungry,
If you had seen us search
each other's mind,
Seeking something
we knew was ours,
If you had seen us clutch
each other then,
Fearful to let go,
afraid to hold close,
Then you would know
How wondrous it is
Forty years later,
To thank the God
Who saw us then,
And brought us to now,
Still holding each other close.
