War's Lullabye

The son sleeps

while the pain seeps

from a mother's

fractal heart.

Her anguish leaks

tenaciously

from the wounds

by the grim reaper.

Another war's

lullabye starts.

very touching write
I was in the war, and I can only imagine my mother's feelings if
the grim reaper got to me

The best memorials of ww1 , are those of the Germans. I will tel of one that gos well with poem , Melanie. It is simpole, it shows a mother crying , her husband looking towrds her , he can say nothing , do nothing to comfort her. As she looks towards the dead sons laid out before her and her husband.

We do have a good and descant memorial in my home town . It shows a woman mother , wife , sister , girl freind crying. It's kind of hidden away , few of the locals knows about it. Of what it signerfies. It was not put up soon after the end of ww1 .So more of laiter times I think , not in any way religious or marshal. Not dedicated ''too the glorious dead '' (sic)

The fractal shaped heart - what an intense image.
What war should not be is ever been engaged.

To be a parent, probably more so a mother, is a very precarious position for the nervous system. You have hit home with staccato lines, straight to the point.

The love between a mother and her sibling is something that people can write about, but never able to put the exact feeling into words. The love is beyond words, yet I think this poem is as close as it gets for me. The love will never ever abate. Thankyou for sharing this write. It has many meanings for me.

Your friend,
John.
