Soooo sad, I fully understand the empty feeling, they were and always will be a loved family member, almost 7 yrs on and we all still talk about our lovely cat, there will be many happy memories.

This is such a traumatic event in life. You have my wholehearted sympathy. I am still brought to tears from the loss of my 'Ludo' in 2020 if I bring myself to recall those last few sad moments. But most of the time I remember the vast period of time when he was such a kind, gentle soul.
You did the right thing: You saved Abbey from further pain and discomfort because of your great love for your pet. I hope that in the coming days, the wonderful memories of sharing good times with Abbey magnify themselves to obliterate the one sad one of it coming to its natural end.
