It’s Black Friday. I saw my first “war on Christmas” post.

The War We Create

The only war on Christmas
is the one waged in the minds
of those who cling to judgment,
dividing the world
into saints and sinners,
the chosen few and the “other,”
instead of reaching for compassion and love.

There is no war on Christmas.
Christ is not a season to defend,
a slogan to shout,
or a political battle to win.
He’s not in coffee cups or
greetings expressed.
Jesus lives only
in the hearts of people
willing to let Him in.

And if a war existed at all,
it would be the one we fuel ourselves -
driven by excess,
by our frenzied buying,
by the desperate pursuit of
perfection in one single day,
until greed drowns out
the name of the One
we claim to celebrate.

I appreciate the thought behind this appraisal of Black Friday and the 'season of good will' (not!) Well articulated. Blessings, Allen
